"I think we had 2 lifts in the workshop…and this one looks like the one down at the end…by Bob Dance’s desk…and obviously you see the springs off the strut…and I have no idea what we were doing… but… the axles out the back…I can see there’s no axle in the bloody thing…it’s hard to know what we was actually doing… its interesting to note that is has no team lotus stripe on it…so it must have been early on. It looks very very clean too so… it must have been a build situation…"

[Who put that gold Team Lotus stripe on the side?]

"That was done…by a sign writer…back then, they didn’t have decals…they’d have people come in with brushes…"

[and the green flash?]

"That was done… I worked in…the production department before I went over to Team Lotus…and that stripe was put on when they was being built. The bodies used to come in totally white…and that stripe was just… basically masked…you know, the car was masked up, and the stripe was put on it in the build situation… it wasn’t.. I want to say… I don’t know quite whether it was done at the beginning or at the end or in the middle… but I remember… the guy who painted it… I can see his face now… he was a nice bloke…he was a really good guy,… basically all he did was put these stripes on the cars…and it wasn’t done in a booth or anything…basically, done in the shop area. They were just sprayed on…he used a spray gun… but he just masked, and sprayed, and… that was it, it just went on…"
