"Stewarts car didn’t survive very long at all… what happened, was… on one of the oil lines… what we used to do back then, was… there was no Aeroquip, right? So, what they used to use, was they used these brass fittings with like … ferrules on them, sort of like jagged parts on them? What happened… they used to use D-rings, like, where you get a pair of pliers and you crimp it on one side, and crimp it the other side and it crushes down? Well, what happened was … when the thing was crushed down, both sides, it actually cut the inner part of the hose off… because what we used to do… the barb part was pretty sharp, we used to take it and take the sharp edge off of it…right? And then, what happened, that was done and, it cut the inner part of the hose, and it just … let loose from the outer part, and blew the hose off. It was either to an oil cooler, or an oil pump, I can’t remember… but that happened out on the circuit and … Stewart could have stopped… it was a 12 hour race, right? We could have gone out there and fixed it or done something ... without ... I know we could have. But he drove it back to the pits and it completely fucked the motor, if you know what I mean… he really did a number on the engine. And we was kind of disappointed in that…"
But…that’s Jackie Stew… (cough… cough…) I mean that’s… who knows… I mean… that’s… I don’t think Jackie Stewart was particularly interested in the race anyway… to be quite truthful with you… "
